The Carolina Panthers are set to put their own seatbelt on Jaycee Horn.
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the team will be picking up the fifth-year option on the standout cornerback. This decision, which was to be expected, would lock in Horn’s rookie deal through the 2025 campaign.
Horn was selected with the eighth overall pick of the 2021 NFL draft. Although he’s proven to be a certified stud in the secondary since, the 24-year-old defender has struggled to stay on the field.
He has dealt with injury after injury over his first three years in Carolina—from breaking his foot three games into his rookie campaign, to breaking his wrist near the end of 2022 and to sustaining a hamstring strain in the 2023 regular-season opener.
As a result, he’s played in just 22 of a possible 51 games.
Per Over The Cap, the option will cost the Panthers approximately $12.4 million for the 2025 season.
