Carolina is moving up down in the NFL draft
The Carolina Panthers have selected South Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legette with the 32nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Dan Morgan is following his predecessor’s example and has the Carolina Panthers on the move in the 2024 NFL Draft. The team has traded the no. 33 and no. 141 overall picks for the no. 32 and no. 200 overall picks.
Legette brings a physicality to the receiver room that the Panthers have been missing. He might not be day one ready to operate as Bryce Young’s number one receiver but he was the choice of a coaching staff that found a lot of success with Mike Evans and D.K. Metcalf. That’s something to chew on.
Xavier Legette is a WR prospect in the 2024 draft class. He scored an unofficial 9.66 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 104 out of 3063 WR from 1987 to 2024.

(For old time’s sake)
The biggest knock on Legette is that he only has one season of excellent production in college. That’s a real concern to stack against a guy with the athletic profile to do it all. Prior to his senior season, Legette had only two seasons with over 100 yards receiving and only one with more than ten catches.
His senior season was eye-popping, however. The South Carolina receiver posted 71 receptions for 1,255 yards and seven touchdowns last season.
Whether that was a flash in the pan or a sign of greatness to come is largely going to come down to Legette’s relationship with head coach Dave Canales and Canales’ own ability to coach an entire NFL team. We’ll have to wait and see what happens next.
