Panthers trade picks and Moore to Bears for #1 Overall Pick in 2023

March 11, 2023 by Carolina Cat Chronicles

The Carolina Panthers made a bold move trading up to secure the #1 pick from the Chicago Bears. In exchange for the top pick, the Panthers gave up the #9 and #61 picks in this year’s draft, a 2024 first-round pick, and a 2025 second-round pick. They also included DJ Moore, a young and talented wide receiver, in the deal.

DJ Moore Traded to Bears

It’s never easy to part ways with a talented player like Moore, but sometimes, a team needs to make tough decisions in order to secure its future. And in this case, the Panthers were willing to part with Moore to get their hands on a franchise quarterback.

The move to trade up for the number one pick shows just how serious the Panthers are about finding a quarterback who can lead the team to success. In recent years, the Panthers have struggled to find consistency at the quarterback position, and this move could be just what the team needs to turn things around.

Of course, there is always a risk when it comes to trading up for a top pick in the draft. But the potential rewards are also huge. By securing the number one pick, the Panthers have the opportunity to select the best quarterback in this year’s draft class. And if that quarterback turns out to be a franchise player, the trade will have been well worth it. Right now, it looks like that is a toss up between Bryce Young and CJ Stroud.

It’s also worth noting that a great quarterback can make all the difference for a wide receiver’s career. DJ Moore is a talented player who has never had the chance to play with a truly great quarterback in Carolina.

All in all, the Panthers’ decision to trade up for the number one pick was a bold move, but one that could pay off in a big way. Only time will tell if the move was the right one, but one thing is for sure – the Panthers are committed to building a winning team, and that’s something that fans can get excited about.
