Both teams are a bit banged up heading into the Baker Mayfield revenge game.
The Panthers have some guys returning from injured/reserve with a shot to play this week, though their offensive line is quite banged up at this point. The Bucs on the other hand appear to have some issues defensively due to injury. Let’s dive in.
Panthers Injury Report
- S Vonn Bell (shoulder), TE Hayden Hurst (concussion) – Out: Another week without a starting safety. Sam Franklin and Alex Cook will likely fill in once again as depth. More on Hurst in a moment.
- TE Tommy Tremble (hip) – Doubtful: The Panthers’ most productive tight end of the season is probably going to miss this game, which also sucks because Hurst has already been ruled out as well. This pretty much leaves Stephen Sullivan and Ian Thomas as the Panthers lone tight ends this week, as Giovanni Ricci is also on IR.
- LB Marquis Haynes (back), DB Jeremy Chinn (quadriceps), LB Yetur Gross-Matos (hamstring), CB Jaycee Horn (hamstring), LB DJ Johnson (elbow), G Nash Jensen (back), CB Troy Hill (hip) – Questionable: Long list of Q’s this week. Jaycee Horn is getting close to the end of his window to become active off of IR, where Jeremy Chinn and Gross-Matos were more recently activated. They all practiced in a limited fashion all week but any of their returns would be big for this defense. Marquis Haynes didn’t log a full practice all week after missing last week so I don’t expect him to play where DJ Johnson at least got a full one in on Friday, so the Panthers will probably be short handed there again. Both Nash Jensen and Hill popped up on the report later in the week so I’m not sure what they do there, but guard ain’t looking great for Sunday for the Panthers interior offensive line.
- OT Taylor Moton (knee), OG Cade Mays (ankle), CB CJ Henderson (concussion), WR Jonathan Mingo (achilles), S Xavier Woods (thigh) – No Injury Designation: Moton got his usual rest. CJ Henderson is coming back from a concussion, though his last interaction with the Bucs wasn’t great! Woods has been banged up since he returned fro his hiatus, but I am a little concerned about Mingo with an Achilles injury, even if he only logged one limited practice and was otherwise fine. Getting Jon Beason flashbacks!
Buccaneers Injury Report
- LB Lavonte David (groin), LB Devin White (foot), DT Mike Green (calf), DB Jamel Dean (ankle/foot) – Out: The Bucs will be missing their two starting interior linebackers on Sunday, which is actually very good news for the Panthers rushing attack that desperately needs a big game to help Bryce Young. Jamel Dean is also one of their current starting corners, which leaves the CB group thin as well. Green is a backup defensive lineman, also not known as Vita Vea.
- LB SirVocea Dennis (illness) – Doubtful: The hits keep on coming for the Bucs interior linebacker group, as they’ll likely missing 3 of their top 4 at that position on Sunday.
- WR Chris Godwin (neck) – Questionable: Godwin popped up midweek with this injury, logging a limited practice on Thursday and didn’t practice Friday. He could be a game-time call and that helps as the Panthers figure out who is lining up where with returning CBs this week.
- QB Baker Mayfield (ankle), CB Carlton Davis (ankle), LB YaYa Diaby (ankle), DB Dee Delaney (personal) – No Injury Designation: Faker Mayfield won’t miss this important game, neither will number one CB Carlton Davis.
It’ll be interesting to see what the Panthers game day actives report looks like.
