Jacksonville made quarterback Trevor Lawrence one of the highest-paid players in NFL history on Thursday evening.
Lawrence and the Jaguars agreed to terms on a five-year contract extension worth $275 million, including $200 million in total guarantees and $142 million fully guaranteed, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The deal includes a signing bonus worth $37.5 million.
The 2021 No. 1 overall NFL draft pick’s reported $55 million average annual salary ties that of Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow, the largest of any player in league history.
With Lawrence set to break the threshold, six quarterbacks now average at least $50 million in annual salary, with Detroit’s Jared Goff, Los Angeles’ Justin Herbert, Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson and Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts filling out the rest of the group.
