Greg Olsen is currently FOX’s No. 1 NFL game analyst, though Tom Brady is scheduled to take over that role in 2024.
Apparently, Olsen wouldn’t be opposed to having Brady call his own team’s games down the road.
According to Richard Deitsch and Joe Person of The Athletic, Olsen would be interested in becoming the head coach of the Carolina Panthers, if approached by owner David Tepper.
“It would be a big leap considering Olsen’s coaching experience is limited to coaching his son’s Pop Warner team (incidentally, Panthers great Luke Kuechly has been the defensive coordinator for Olsen’s Pop Warner team for the past couple of years). But the 38-year-old has been immersed in the league since moving into broadcasting after he retired following the 2020 season,” said Deitsch and Person.
On Monday, Tepper fired Frank Reich as head coach after only 11 games. Special teams coordinator Chris Tabor is the interim head coach.
If David Tepper is looking for an outside-the-box candidate, something to consider: Ex-Panthers TE and current Fox analyst would be interested if Tepper called, per sources.

Olsen, who played in the NFL from 2007-20, was a star for the Panthers from 2011-19, earning three trips to the Pro Bowl and two second-team All-Pro selections.
Whether or not this is a negotiating ploy for him to secure a better contract from FOX or if he seriously wants to coach is up for debate. We’d be surprised if the Panthers actually pursued the New Jersey native.
