Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has been heavily linked to the NFL over the past few years. Though there’s no guarantee he’ll leave Ann Arbor, it appears there’ll be at least two teams interested in acquiring his services.
During an appearance on “The Herd” this Wednesday, Dianna Russini of The Athletic mentioned the Bears and Panthers as potential landing spots for Harbaugh. Of course, that’s if he wants to leave Michigan for the pros.
“Let’s just start with Carolina, alright? You mentioned that David Tepper makes that firing last week with Frank Reich now out. If you remember, Tepper and Harbaugh had conversations last year,” Russini said. “It obviously didn’t pan out, but this was something that they discussed. So that’s a name I’m hearing again.
“The Chicago Bears are another organization I have heard has had some conversations about that depending on what decision they make with this coaching staff that is in place and of course what they do with that quarterback situation.”
Harbaugh’s situation is a bit complicated this year. Since there’s so much smoke surrounding the Michigan sign-stealing scandal, he could decide to leave it all behind once this season is over.
From a financial standpoint, Harbaugh could receive more money from a team like the Panthers. Their owner, David Tepper, has proven in the past he’s not afraid to swing big for a head coach.
