CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CAROLINA SPORTS LIVE) — Panthers fans will see rookie Jimmy Horn Jr. make his NFL deputy this weekend.
An injury to wide receiver David Moore Sunday added the list for Carolina (1-3) at the banged-up position. Moore injured his elbow during the blowout loss to New England Sunday, and head coach Dave Canales described him as “week-to-week” at Monday’s press conference.
This comes as Xavier Legette missed his second straight game with a hamstring pull and Jalen Coker remaining on injured reserve, though he is eligible to return, the team reported.
With the injuries in the receiver room, it appears Horn will make his debut this Sunday when Carolina hosts the winless Dolphins. The 5-foot-8 rookie was drafted in the sixth round last spring out of Colorado.
“There’s certainly things he can bring to our offense with his speed and ability to carry the ball and make yards,” Canales said.
Another rookie has been the top target for QB Bryce Young. Tetairoa McMillan has a team-high 18 catches this season, averaging 15.4 yards per catch. He had four catches for 62 yards Sunday.
After McMillan, running back Chuba Hubbard and first-year Panther Hunter Renfrow are tied with 13 receptions and a combined 169 yards.
