The Panthers have found their Miles Sanders replacement

The Panthers are continuing to comb through the free agency pool for talent. They made a rare (for this particular Offseason) move on offense this time.

The #Panthers have agreed to a 1-year deal with RB Rico Dowdle, per league source.

And we have the cap details from Ian Rapoport:

The #Panthers are giving Rico Dowdle a 1-year deal worth up to $6.25M in a deal done by @davidcanter and @NessMugrabi of @aurasportsgroup. https://t.co/swJGJ6pwn5

After deciding to release Miles Sanders in the last few days, and with the likelihood that 2024 2nd round pick Jonathan Brooks will miss the entire 2025 season due to injury, running back had popped up as a need for Carolina. And they got an intriguing option to say the least, as a pairing with Chuba Hubbard.

After a relatively quiet first few seasons to his career in Dallas, Dowdle rushed for 1,079 yards on 235 attempts, running in two TDs. He added another 3 TDs as a receiver. Dowdle was definitely the better running back for Dallas last season, but shared time with veterans Ezekiel Elliott and Dalvin Cook. I’m personally very excited to see what he can add to this backfield as the running mate with Chuba Hubbard, who is also coming off his best season as a pro.

Sound off on your thoughts in the comments, Panthers fans!
