Thursday Night Football Best Bets: Atlanta Falcons vs. Carolina Panthers

November 11, 2022 by Prime Time Sports Talk

Week 10 kicks off this evening with a good, old-fashioned NFC South rivalry between the Atlanta Falcons (4-5) and Carolina Panthers (2-7). This is a massive must-win game for the Birds as they travel to Charlotte, N.C., under the bright lights of Thursday Night Football. All that’s left is to lay down a few best bets to get the proverbial juices flowing.

Let’s take a dive and meet our plays for this evening’s matchup.

Best Bet No. 1: Falcons -3.0 (-110)

To say the Falcons have been massive overachievers thus far this season would be an understatement. What’s even more uncanny is that Arthur Smith’s men might actually win the division. At face value, the Panthers are an absolute tire fire at the moment after trading away star running back Christian McCaffrey and dismissing two of their coaches along the way. Simply put, this is a game that the Falcons absolutely need to have. It may get scrappy at times, but I think Atlanta walks away from this one with a five-point victory. Take the Falcons at -3.0.

Best Bet No. 2: Under 43.5 Total Points (-110)

A midseason divisional matchup on Thursday Night Football coupled with an atrocious-looking weather forecast? Oh, I’ll ride with the under here, thank you very much. In fact, I actually locked this bet in a few days ago, and since then the line has moved to 41.5. As per the weather, there is a wind advisory in Charlotte with gusts reaching up to 40 mph. Expect a low-scoring tilt tonight, folks. In addition, the “name of the game” this evening will be to run the ball on both sides which will limit the passing game and run the clock. There’s still time to lock in the under here; don’t hesitate a second longer.

Best Bet No. 3: P.J. Walker Under 182.5 Passing Yards (-110)

Walker was benched during Carolina’s atrocious showing last week in Cincinnati, a game in which they lost by a score of 42-21. After falling to 2-7, the Panthers announced their starter for Week 10. Spoiler alert: it’s (once again) Walker. The under on his passing yards may even hit for the sole fact that Walker may be benched at some point tonight. 182.5 is a pretty big line for a team as flat as the Panthers are on the offensive side of the football. Like the point total, Walker’s line has also plummeted. This one’s easy: bet the under on 182.5 passing yards for Walker.
