CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CAROLINA SPORTS LIVE) — Charlotte FC forward Patrick Agyemang was named the MLS Player of the Matchday for his performance against Columbus Saturday.
Agyemang was pivotal in the Crown’s 3-2 home win that broke a five-game losing streak in MLS play. He scored twice in the first half against the Crew, pushing his season total to a team-leading five.
The first came via a diving header off a corner kick. Then Wilfried Zaha found Agyemang for a breakaway to give The Crown a halftime lead.
He also found the net in FC’s US Open Cup loss three days before, and was called up to the U.S. Men’s National Team in that span.
Charlotte FC’s (7-7-1) next match is Wednesday at New York.
